Answer: If you’re relying solely on GP functionality and the territory manager is different than the salesperson: no, you can’t. You can create territories in GP and assign customers to them, but GP provides no commission calculation for the territory manager. You’ll have to use a spreadsheet to manually calculate how much your territory manager has earned for each sale. Worried about how much time that will take? Don’t stress — there’s a faster way to do this.
Using Commission Plan for Dynamics GP, you can assign as many reps as you’d like, plus as many managers as you’d like, to a specific territory. For each sale in that territory, Commission Plan will automatically and accurately calculate commissions for all applicable territory reps and managers.
Example: You have 1,000 customers in the South, and one territory manager who oversees all reps in the area. If you want to give your territory manager 1% on any sales that happen there, all you have to do is assign the manager to the “South” territory. That’s it. After that one easy update, the calculation plan that you set up for your territory manager will automatically award her 1% on every sale that comes from any of those 1,000 customers in the South.
