How to Use EthoTech to Email Salesperson Compensation Reports
Note: This explanation is a summary. You can find detailed instructions for Commission Plan reports starting on page 116 of the EthoTech User Manual.
The Commission Plan Report window empowers you to print current and historical summary and detail reports for sales documents with Commission Plan information. You can choose to print one report for each salesperson and then email the correct report to the correct salesperson, with personalized line-item detail in each document.
You can include a wide range of information in your emailed reports, but most of our clients choose to tell their salespeople:
- What they are due to be paid next period
- What they were paid this period
- Items outstanding that are waiting for payment before the salesperson can be paid
- All the salesperson’s orders that will be paid once they’re invoiced or paid (note: this option is less commonly selected)
If you’re thinking this sounds like a lot of work, think again. Commission Plan’s automation tools enable you to save your settings and then the program takes care of the rest of the work for you.
It’s literally “one and done.”
Using Commission Plan, simply fill in your email options, including your subject line, salutation, and message body. This information will be included in every email.
Once you have finalized your settings, Commission Plan will process and send all your salesperson compensation reports for you – while you move on to other tasks.
Please know that to take advantage of Commission Plan’s email capabilities:
- Commission Email functionality works with any MAPI compliant email client and will use whichever email client is set as Default on your computer.
- An email address needs to be assigned to each Salesperson ID in the Internet Options sections of the Salesperson Maintenance window. This is where Commission Plan gets the email address to use when sending emails.
- The File Format (i.e. text file, tab-delimited file, comma-delimited file, HTML file, Adobe PDF file, XML data file) is pulled from the available formats available in Dynamics GP. The Adobe PDF file format is only available if your have Adobe Acrobat installed and connected to Dynamics GP.
- When choosing the Print Option = One Report Per Salesperson, each file is created and saved to your hard drive using a concatenation of the Salesperson ID and the File Name that was provided in the Report Destination window.
